Fussy little eaters

Some of my friends are bringing their kids over for tea on Saturday – nothing special, just sandwiches and fairy cakes. Easiest thing in the world, right? Except I made the mistake of asking what kind of sandwich fillings they like, thinking there’s bound to be something in common, and suddenly I’ve entered a minefield.

According to experts, it’s parents make their kids into fussy eaters. I can well believe it. I’m tempted to put a big bowl of crisps in the middle of the table and just let them get on with it and if they don’t eat the sandwiches that’s up to them. I expect they’ll all eat the fairy cakes though – including the adults.
