Big Brother 11 - who are your final five?

Well much to my family's relief, it's nearly at an end. And what a series it's been - classic, in fact. This week in particular, what with Wig-gate, the flood and the John James/Josie row, has been spectacular.

But tomorrow night four of the Big Brother housemates will be evicted. And the question is, who do you want to go?

I know I want to see Sam Pepper and John James in the final with Josie. I would have said Steve to win, but I don't think it would be fair on the bloke to make him stay another two weeks with the previous winners (and possibly John McCririck, OMG).

  John James

Sam

Andrew is like wallpaper, Mario is too desperate to win. So for me it would have to be Corin to stay in the final five, along with Dave. And really, I'd like to see Sam Pepper in the celeb house.

What about you? Who would you like to see in the final four - and do you think Josie should be a shoe-in to win?

Are you going to watch Big Brother?

OK, I'll admit it. I'm a Big Brother fan. I've watched every series, even the very dull ones, and when the live stream was working I used to watch that too, much to Man of the House's disbelief. When the new series starts on Wednesday, I'll definitely be tuning in.

So I'll be sad to see it go. But I can see that maybe it had run its course.

There have been some very memorable housemates, though. Jade. Brian. Nadia. Nicky. Er... OK, maybe that's it.

Will you be tuning in? And if so, who are your favourite housemates of all time?

England expects... ish

Unless you’re planning to leave the country for the next month or so, there really will be no escape. No I’m not talking about Big Brother (yet) but the World Cup, of course.

Now obviously Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland did not make it into the World Cup, but there is a dizzying array of England-themed goodies on offer. Here are some of my favourites:

These babygros (£7 and £8) and bibs (£5) from Mothercare are very cute.

I also love the soothers (£2) and baby bottles (£3) from Tesco.

To ensure you don’t miss a single ep of Grey's Anatomy or any of your other favourite shows that clash with an ‘important’ game then you might want to get Sky.

They’ve bought out some new limited edition boxes just for the World cup designed by Wayne Hemingway, Phil Daniels and Gerald Scarfe. (For more details click here).

So, what's the offside rule again?

Should fat children be taken into care?

Thanks to Sir Jamie O, there's still a lot of emphasis on encouraging kids to eat healthily at the moment, and rightly so. But I can't help wondering if it's all gone a bit Big Brother if fat children are being taken away from their families and put into care.

The decision to place two children from this particular family into care was made when it emerged that one of the children, aged three, weighed 4st while another, aged 12, weighed 16st. (It is the three-year-old and a four-year-old who have been taken into care, leaving the mother - who is pregnant - bereft.)

To be honest, I can think of quite a few families where the children are slightly on the heavy side and could do with a few less snacks and a lot more exercise. Does that make them 'bad' parents? Of course not.

While I agree that feeding your child an endless diet of snacks and junk food is irresponsible, I'm not sure it's actually neglect. What do you think?

This week's challenge...

Day One and some of the housemates are in the garden.

Of course, unlike the Big Brother inmates, we’re also free to go to the park, or the library (if you haven’t registered yet for the Summer Reading Scheme, then I definitely recommend it. It encourages your kids to actually finish the books they’ve taken out, for a start.)

Another activity you can start now is the Fitter Families Challenge. Ian Wright, MBE, is encouraging families up and down the country to take more exercise and have fun – and it’s free to register and take part. Come on - race you to the goalpost.
