"My daughter was a little unsure of this at first, but once she got the hang of it, we had trouble getting her off it. It was easy to assemble and it’s very robust. And it’s quiet, too, so it doesn’t drown out the noise of traffic so she can always hear cars approaching. I would definitely recommend this scooter."

Amanda Lawrence, 35, Oswestry           Rating:

Disney Cars Pop Up Mack Play Tent

Price: £34.99 (RRP)

Retailers:

Argos, Littlewoods Direct, Toys R Us

"My three-year-old loved this and couldn't wait to get in - it was easy to assemble and the bright colours were attractive to him, too. It provided a good basis for imaginative play – he enjoyed pretending to be the driver and used the tent for other activities such as reading and pretending to have picnics. He also likes the interactive sounds and the design of the product. It would be a good idea if the sound control came in the shape of a steering wheel, but overall we both think it’s excellent. It can be used indoors or outdoors, which is a bonus."

Andrea Cave, 29, Lincolnshire           Rating:

Kid K'Nex Puppy Pets

Price: £7.99 (RRP)

Retailers:

Kiddicare
www.tomy.co.uk
ToysRUs

"This saved my sanity on a rainy Saturday. My three-year-old daughter loved the bright colours and the handy carry case (great for a toy like this where you really don't want to lose any of the bits), while my six-year-old daughter made all the examples on the easy to follow instruction sheet and added some of her own variations. In fact, I didn't realise she was so good at 'construction.' They played with it for hours and the only downside was the fights over whose turn it was."

Sally Chaplin, 43, Surrey           Rating:

Stamp n' Draw Peppa Pig

Price: £14.99 (RRP)

Retailers:

Kiddicare
www.tomy.co.uk

"This was a big hit in our house as both my 3-year old daughter and 1-year-old son loved it (although it’s meant for 18 months plus). It’s easy to use, well made and folds up really small so ideal for travel and holidays. I only wish it came with two pens so two children can draw at once."

Alison Hunt, 36, Surrey           Rating:

Musical Drums

Rating:

"a sturdy toy that’s great fun and also eco friendly" Lorraine Wade, Fife

"Big buttons, that make noise and make things light up? Fantastic." Leslieanne Barclay, 29

Playskool Lullaby Gloworm

Price: £12.99 (RRP)

Retailers:  Kiddicare

"I remember having one of these when I was little, so overwhelmed with nostalgia, couldn't get him out of the box quick enough!  He was an instant hit - I pressed his tummy to start the singing & handed him to my 3 month old baby boy who immediately grinned and grabbed at the little light up face.  A month later, it's still one of his favourites to cuddle, and works wonders to calm him down when he gets overtired.  And from a mum point of view, the music is actually very soothing, and melodic - unlike some toys that sound a bit like bleepy electronic video games!  And, the gloworm comes with batteries already fitted and ready to go - a big plus point!  The only downside is that you have to press quite hard to make him sing, which my baby hasn't been able to do just yet.

Leslieanne Barclay, 29, West Sussex           Rating:

Tomy’s Magical Melody Maker

Price: £29.99 (RRP)

Retailers:

www.tomy.co.uk
Littlewoods
Argos

"Each instrument is magnetic and has its own sound, so as I placed them on the flower-shaped drum, my daughter couldn't help wiggling her bottom to the music as she watched them spin. As well as teaching her the names and sounds of each instrument, she can practice grabbing the toys as they spin and exercise her fine motor skills. This great toy kept her playing happily for ages - and more when her older brother joined in the fun.

Sam Miller, 39, Middlesex

Thomas Rock ‘n’ Roll Guitar

Price: £19.99 (RRP)

Retailers:

www.tomy.co.uk
Asda
Toys R Us

"This is a perfect toy for any child who loves trains and musical instruments. It makes realistic train noises which my little boy loves and has flashing lights. It is nice and bright and not too loud! Would definitely recommend for children over 18 months."

Emma Morgan, 31, Wolverhampton           Rating:
