Every day after school Child No 1 and I follow the same script.
Me: 'Did you get any homework?'
Child No 1: 'A bit'. Devours snack, goes upstairs, I presume to work.
Then, an hour later, when I can hear talking and laughter on the XBox:
Me: 'Have you done your homework?'
Child No 1 (sighs, rolls eyes): 'Yessssss'.
Inevitably though we get to the weekend and there in the 'Homework planner' are lots of gaps where there should be ticks, and the occasional forged parent's signature (VERY naughty) to show the homework has been 'checked'.
I know it's difficult when you're a kid - and in my opinion, there is far too much testing and homework. (My friend Vicky's six-year-old gets an hour a night already. He's at primary school, for goodness' sake, not medical school).
And of course the last thing you want to do when you've been at school all day is spend your 'free' time poring over books and sums.
How do you convince your kids to do their homework? And how much is too much? I'd love to know what you think.
