We're huge Roald Dahl fans in our family and of course if there are two words guaranteed to get me to the cinema it's 'George' and 'Clooney'. So we couldn't wait to take the kids to a preview screening of Fantastic Mr Fox yesterday.
And I'm delighted to say the movie is funny, beautifully filmed and the animation is wonderful - the foxes are exceptionally appealing. Not least, of course, because Mr Fox is voiced by Gorgeous George, so although you can't see him you can hear his gravelly tones. (In typical Hollywood fashion, the animals have American accents, but the nasty farmers - the villains - appeared to be English.)

The whole film is bathed in a sort of nostalgic sunset glow, which makes it very comforting to watch. Both Harriet, 13 and Ben, six, loved it. Ben (right, wearing his fox mask) laughed and laughed at the part where the foxes drugged the dogs with blueberries. He usually gets quite restless in the cinema but he was enthralled from start to finish. Harriet's favourite moment was 'when the foxes put on their balaclavas'.

If you're not going away next week, I'd make this a must-see on your half-term to do list.
