Our house is an ordinary semi in a city suburb. It is not in the middle of an Enchanted Forest and there are no fairies flitting about doing all the chores. This is apparently news to my family, however, who appear to think that everything happens by 'Magic' rather than 'Mum'.
Sometimes I feel like Little Red Hen. Me: 'Who will stack the dishwasher?' Family: 'Not us, far too busy.' Me: 'Who will put the rubbish out?' Family: 'Not us.' Me: 'Who will make the dinner?' Family: 'Not us.' And so on. You get the idea.
Of course Little Red Hen plays a trump card by making bread and then eating it all by herself. I'm sorely tempted to do the same next time I make dinner.
*How do you encourage your family to help out with chores? I'd love to know.
