To help make reading enjoyable and fun we surveyed the KidStart team about what they love most about reading to their little ones.<\/h2>\r\nHere are our 10 tips to help your children enjoy reading:<\/strong>\r\n

    1. Make books part of family life<\/strong><\/h3>\r\n<\/li>\r\n \t
  2. Hhave books around the home so you can pick up a book and read with your child whenever there is a chance to read together.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n

      2. Join your local library<\/strong><\/h3>\r\n<\/li>\r\n \t
    2. Get your family a library card and visit allowing the children to pick their own books, encouraging their interests.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n

        3. Reading for pleasure<\/strong><\/h3>\r\n<\/li>\r\n \t
      2. Take time out and read a book too!\u00a0 Let the children see you enjoying a book and they will want to copy you.\u00a0 Make reading time a treat whether it is reading together or on your own.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n

          4. Explore Interests<\/strong><\/h3>\r\n<\/li>\r\n \t
        2. Visit The Book People<\/a><\/strong><\/span> (get up to 5% back for your kids) or Amazon<\/strong> <\/a><\/span>(2% back) and purchase books that will spark your child\u2019s imagination and interests.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n

            5. All reading is great<\/strong><\/h3>\r\n<\/li>\r\n \t
          2. Don\u2019t discount non-fiction, comics, magazines and leaflets.\u00a0 All reading is good and inspires young readers.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n

              6. Get comfortable<\/strong><\/h3>\r\n<\/li>\r\n \t
            2. Snuggle up somewhere warm and cosy with your little one, whether it is in bed, on a beanbag or the sofa, make sure it is relaxing and the television and devices are turned off. Great floor cushions are fun from John Lewis<\/a><\/strong><\/span> (and get 1.5% back for your kids on all purchases)<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n

                7. Ask questions<\/strong><\/h3>\r\n<\/li>\r\n \t
              2. Keep your child interested in the story by regularly asking questions such as, \u201cWhat do you think will happen next?\u201d \u201cWhat colour is that?\u201d \u201cCan you remember what happens next?\u201d<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n

                2. Encourage your child to re-read favourite books together. Getting to know a story together builds up fluency, vocabulary and confidence.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n

                    9. Play with rhymes and sound<\/strong><\/h3>\r\n<\/li>\r\n \t
                  2. Story books that include rhyme and repetition are a fun way to encourage your child to join in the story, why not try Julia Donaldson\u2019s Room on a Broom for children under 5 years.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n

                      10. Make bedtime stories a regular feature<\/strong><\/h3>\r\n<\/li>\r\n \t
