Pav Bryan,\u00a0a British cycling<\/a> level 3 coach and KCA BAR Champion 2015 shares with KidStart<\/a> his views on cycling<\/a>, the Tour de France<\/a>, and how to get your kids excited about the sport.<\/h2>\r\nWith the rapid rise to the top of cycling<\/strong> in Britain<\/a>, since the Olympics in London 2012, Bradley Wiggins winning the Tour de France<\/strong><\/a>, and Team Sky\u2019s continued dominance of said tour we have seen a massive uptake of the sport<\/a><\/strong> among young people and adults alike. Cycling clubs<\/a><\/strong> are growing massively and the infrastructure that held back so many youths from being able to pursue a career in cycling<\/a><\/strong> has now been put in place.<\/strong>\r\n

Tips to get kids into cycling<\/h3>\r\nAs a youngster if you want to try any form of cycling<\/a><\/strong> find your local Go-Ride club. Go-Ride is an initiative set up by British Cycling<\/a><\/strong> to encourage young people to get started in the sport<\/a><\/strong>. The club will have qualified coaches and run great sessions that will help improve cycling<\/a> <\/strong>ability. They will be the foot in the door that will help you into a career in cycling<\/a><\/strong>.\r\n

Keeping the enthusiasm for sport<\/h3>\r\nAs a child I enjoyed cycling<\/a><\/strong> but without the infrastructure and support I lost touch. Like many when I got into my teens and young adult years life took over and I forgot about the sport<\/a><\/strong> I loved. When I finally got back into it, it remained firmly a tool to keep fit, active, healthy<\/a> <\/strong>and for enjoyment. It wasn\u2019t until I joined my local club, Rye & District Wheelers, that I was introduced to sportives and then ultimately time trials.\r\n

If only I’d started earlier!<\/h3>\r\nI won the Kent Cycling<\/a> Association 12-hour time trial in my maiden racing year with a mileage of 269. Nobody came close that year and it wasn\u2019t far off the course record. I also won my club 10 mile and 12 hour championships.\r\n\r\nIn my second year racing I jointly won the Kent Cycling<\/a> Association Best All Rounder. The combined average speed of my best result from a number of events including 25, 50, 100 and 12-hour TT\u2019s. I was unfortunate to not retain my KCA 12-hour trophy. Due to a fall at hour six, but despite that still finished second not far from my previous best.\r\n\r\nWho knows what the future will bring for me, but like most people my age with my ability I do wonder what life could have been like if I had a Go-Ride club near me\u2026\r\n\r\n
