And back in February <a href =\"http:\/\/www.kidstart.co.uk\/livingwithkids\/post\/2010\/02\/22\/A-chance-to-help-very-special-children-and-their-families.aspx\">I told you how the daughter of one of my friends was born with a rare genetic disorder<\/a>. It&rsquo;s a topic very close to my heart, and I know many of yours as well. <\/p>\n<p>But of course it&#39;s not just rare disorders that are affected by genes. Breast cancer, Alzheimer&#39;s, heart disease and diabetes are just a few of the conditions which can be hereditary, and recent evidence from scientists at Cardiff University suggests ADHD may have a genetic link as well.<\/p>\n<p>That&#39;s why I&#39;m supporting the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.geneticalliance.org.uk\/\">Genetic Alliance UK<\/a>, a national alliance of organisations with a membership of over 130 charities supporting children, families and individuals by ensuring that high quality services and information are available to all who need them. <\/p>\n<p>And you can also support the Genetic Alliance via KidStart &ndash; by donating your savings to the charity.
