{"id":1543,"date":"2009-12-13T08:29:00","date_gmt":"2009-12-13T08:29:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/79.170.44.80\/livingwithkids.co.uk\/pink-doesnt-stink\/"},"modified":"2013-06-24T13:12:35","modified_gmt":"2013-06-24T13:12:35","slug":"pink-doesnt-stink","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kidstart.co.uk\/blog\/pink-doesnt-stink\/","title":{"rendered":"Pink doesn&#8217;t stink!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>  There&#39;s been quite a bit in the press this week about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pinkstinks.co.uk\" target=\"_blank\">PinkStinks<\/a>, a campaign to stop the &#39;pinkification&#39; of toys, clothes etc and to provide more positive role models for girls.   <\/p>\n<p>  While I&#39;m all in favour of encouraging girls and young women to fulfill their potential, I&#39;m not sure why pink should be the target. I grew up as the daughter of a women&#39;s libber, yet I had Betnovate-pink walls in my bedroom (my choice). Didn&#39;t do me any harm.&nbsp;I also think that the women PinkStinks have chosen as positive&nbsp;role models &#8211; the likes of Meryl Streep, Susan Sarandon, Annie Leibovitz &#8211; are I&#39;m afraid too old to appeal to young girls or even most young women.&nbsp;The organisers say they want to celebrate women &nbsp;who are &#39;inspirational, motivational and ground-breaking&#39;.&nbsp;But while I&#39;m sure they wouldn&#39;t view&nbsp;the&nbsp;likes of Katie Price, the princess of pink, as a positive role model, she&#39;s an incredibly successful businesswoman.   <\/p>\n<p>  Pink is also the colour of many breast cancer charities, including the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pinkribbonfoundation.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">Pink Ribbon Foundation<\/a>&nbsp;which makes it a positive as far as I&#39;m concerned.   <\/p>\n<p>  So what do you think &#8211; does pink stink, or does it rock?
