They\u2019ve got a stair gate ready to install but she was asking me what other things I\u2019d recommend they invest in.\r\n\r\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" style=\"border: 0pt none; margin: 10px;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.livingwithkids.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/1\/georgia.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"204\" height=\"251\" \/>\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\nWell, where to start? It\u2019s definitely worth having a look round your home and considering things from a child\u2019s point of view. \u2018Curious children left unattended, even for a moment, will wonder into rooms that hold potential dangers,\u2019 says Clare from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.childalert.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Childalert<\/a>. \u2018Unncessary bumps, tumbles, burns and fractures and more serious injuries can be avoided with a little understanding and common sense of how to avoid them.\u2019\r\n\r\nCouldn&#8217;t agree more. So here\u2019s my list of essentials for baby-proofing your home \u2013 please share yours, too:\r\n\r\n1. Cooker guard. I still go cold when I think of a woman I interviewed once whose child pulled a pan of boiling water over herself. Such a simple device but incredibly useful. An oven lock is also a good idea.\r\n2. Cupboard latches. It goes without saying that all household products, tablets and medicine etc should be out of reach, but these will give you total peace of mind.\r\n3. Radiator covers. Inquisitive little hands (and arms) can all too easily become trapped, so these are brilliant.\r\n4.\u00a0 Loo seat catch. We lost count of the items \u2013 plastic dinosaurs, lego, socks \u2013 that were thrown in and fished out before we bought one of these.\r\n5. Window locks. To avoid incidents like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thisislondon.co.uk\/standard\/article-23914781-boy-survives-30ft-plunge-out-of-window.do\">this<\/a>.\r\n\r\nYou can find lots of essential safety products on the fab site <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kidstart.co.uk\/partner\/Childalertsbabycatalogue.aspx?t=lwk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Childalert<\/a>.
