{"id":3930,"date":"2011-11-07T12:09:59","date_gmt":"2011-11-07T12:09:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.livingwithkids.co.uk\/?p=3930"},"modified":"2017-06-12T16:36:45","modified_gmt":"2017-06-12T15:36:45","slug":"whats-all-this-about-junior-isas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kidstart.co.uk\/blog\/whats-all-this-about-junior-isas\/","title":{"rendered":"What&#8217;s all this about Junior ISAs?"},"content":{"rendered":"You may have heard of the Junior ISA\u00a0 (Individual Savings Account) which was launched on November 1.\u00a0 It\u00a0 is designed to replace the Child Trust Scheme which encouraged parents and grandparents to save for their children\u2019s future from birth.\r\n\r\nThe joy of the Child Trust Fund was that the Government contributed to it by paying in \u00a3500 for the child whenyou opened it and another \u00a3500 when they turned 7.\u00a0 I wonder why they\u2019ve dropped it?\r\n\r\nSadly the Government will not be contributing to the new Junior ISA which is a tax free way of saving up to \u00a33,600 a year until they turn 18 and decide to blow it all on an unsuitable car. It is eligible for children who do not have a Child Trust Fund, which means those who were born during the time of the Child Trust Fund will not be eligible.
