Something more flexible and to do with parenting? If so, how do you feel about being a practitioner for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nct.org.uk\/\">NCT (National Childbirth Trust)<\/a>? <\/strong>\n\nLike many I did one of their antenatal courses when I was pregnant and not only learnt a lot from the NCT practitioner teaching the course but made some pretty good friends who I still know five years down the line. If you&#8217;re unaware of who the NCT are, they are the UK\u2019s largest charity for parents. They support hundreds of thousands of parents through pregnancy and beyond, offering expert information and\u00a0 practical and emotional support through their website, their nationwide network of 300 local branches, and free helplines.\n\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.livingwithkids.co.uk\/are-you-looking-for-a-change-of-career\/nct\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5396\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5396\" title=\"NCT\" src=\"http:\/\/www.livingwithkids.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/NCT.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"250\" \/><\/a>\n\nIf you love them or are looking for a change of career you may be interested to know that opportunities to train as a practitioner with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nct.org.uk\/\">NCT<\/a> are now available. Admissions for NCT&#8217;s new college courses have just opened at the NCT college which is based at the University of Worcester.\n\nThe courses offer university-accredited training for those wanting to be antenatal teacher, breastfeeding counsellor, postnatal leader, or NCT Doula. Admissions are open for courses beginning in September 2012 and the courses allow you to learn through a mixture of tutorials, one-to-one time with tutors and online learning. With tutorials run across the UK and study days hosted regionally, this means you will be able to complete the majority of your studies without the need to travel to Worcester.\n\nThis flexibility is ideal if you\u2019re looking for a career you can juggle around children. One NCT antenatal teacher, Fiona, said: \u201c<em>For me, my NCT work fits around the needs of my teenage boys. The training is very comprehensive, diverse and interesting and of a very high standard. I also love getting together with other practitioners and sharing ideas. I have a job I can do around my family and earn a decent hourly wage.\u201d<\/em>\n\nThe new Certificate of Higher Education \u2013 Birth and Beyond Practitioner, completed over one or two years, and qualifying students can then begin a year of probationary practice, delivering Preparation for Birth and Beyond (PBB) courses based on the Department of Health\u2019s new framework.
