{"id":6668,"date":"2013-01-04T09:40:18","date_gmt":"2013-01-04T09:40:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.livingwithkids.co.uk\/?p=6668"},"modified":"2019-01-03T16:37:17","modified_gmt":"2019-01-03T16:37:17","slug":"save-money-with-kidstart-in-2013","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kidstart.co.uk\/blog\/save-money-with-kidstart-in-2013\/","title":{"rendered":"Save More Money In 2013"},"content":{"rendered":"<strong>Like many families my new year&#8217;s resolution is to save money. \u00a0I plan to do this by obviously spending less, paying in cash, shopping through <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kidstart.co.uk\/\">KidStart<\/a> and taking a closer look at my finances (I only ever look when things get bad).<\/strong>\r\n\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.livingwithkids.co.uk\/save-money-with-kidstart-in-2013\/money-3\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-6677\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6677\" title=\"money\" src=\"http:\/\/www.livingwithkids.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/money.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>\r\n\r\nSo I loved The Guardian&#8217;s article on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/money\/2012\/dec\/28\/money-saving-tips-travel-prescriptions\">12 Pain Free Money Saving Tips<\/a>\u00a0last Friday, which included (1) Check your tax code.\u00a0Martin Lewis at Moneysavingexpert.com says some of his users have saved thousands after double-checking their code (he has a handy guide to check whether you&#8217;re eligible for a rebate at\u00a0<a title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.moneysavingexpert.com\/family\/check-tax-code\">moneysavingexpert.com\/family\/check-tax-code<\/a>). (2) Don&#8217;t buy branded medicines.\u00a0A 16-pack of Nurofen caplets costs \u00a32 compared with Tesco&#8217;s 16 pack of Ibuprofen caplets at 19p and (3) Use money saving codes and money back sites (such as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kidstart.co.uk\/\">KidStart<\/a>\u00a0which allows members to collect cash which will be deposited into a child&#8217;s designated savings account or Child Trust Fund when shopping online from over\u00a0450 retailers).\r\n\r\nThis year I intend to use the above sites to do everything from doing my weekly shop to booking a holiday to buying school uniform. And having used them for 99.9% of my Christmas shopping I can honestly say that one area where\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/money\/2012\/dec\/28\/money-saving-tips-travel-prescriptions\">The Guardian<\/a> are wrong is when they say &#8220;<em>most voucher codes you obtain online are out of date or prove worthless when applied<\/em>&#8220;. Use the right approved money saving sites and you will definitely get your 4% cash back or your 10% off.\r\n\r\nWhat&#8217;s more the more you use these sites, the more you&#8217;ll see that it&#8217;s ridiculous to shop without checking out what you could save and make back first. They really are a smart shopping decision for families who want to save money but not do without.\r\n\r\nSo how will you be saving money in 2013?
