Heavenly.<\/p>\n\n<\/header>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-md-6\">\n<div class=\"media-wrapper media-wrapper--caption media-wrapper--border\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-responsive\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/damper-bread_3x2_150618.jpg\" alt=\"Damper bread\">\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"caption smallest\">Delicious!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-md-6\">\n<div class=\"media-wrapper\">\n<p class=\"bold\">Damper is a basic, yeast free bread recipe made by the early colonial settlers in the Australian Bush.<\/p>\n<p>Due to the simplicity of the ingredients, this bread is ideal for baking over campfires.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2>This is how to make enough &#8216;dampers&#8217; for six people<\/h2>\n<h3>Ingredients<\/h3>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-md-6\">\n<div class=\"bullet\"><span class=\"bullet__point\" style=\"background-color: #e06287;\">1<\/span>250g plain flour<\/div>\n<div class=\"bullet\"><span class=\"bullet__point\" style=\"background-color: #e06287;\">3<\/span>2 teaspoons baking powder<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-md-6\">\n<div class=\"bullet\"><span class=\"bullet__point\" style=\"background-color: #e06287;\">2<\/span>A pinch of salt<\/div>\n<div class=\"bullet\"><span class=\"bullet__point\" style=\"background-color: #e06287;\">4<\/span>150ml water<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3>Method<\/h3>\n<p><span class=\"first-letter\">F<\/span>irstly, get the kids to forage for a few long, straight sticks to wrap the damper dough around.\nThe sticks should be sturdy and at least double the length of your child&#8217;s arm so they can safely hold them over the embers of the fire.<\/p>\n\n<div class=\"divider divider--space--top divider--space--bottom divider--dotted\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div class=\"bullet__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"bullet\"><span class=\"bullet__point bullet__point--dark\" style=\"background-color: #f2f0a1;\">1<\/span><\/div>\n<p>Combine all the ingredients and mix into a dough. Kids will enjoy kneading the dough into a ball which should then be divided into six equal portions.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bullet__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"bullet\"><span class=\"bullet__point bullet__point--dark\" style=\"background-color: #fcaebb;\">2<\/span><\/div>\n<p>Roll each portion into a long, slightly flattened sausage shape of about 15 centimetres long.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bullet__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"bullet\"><span class=\"bullet__point bullet__point--dark\" style=\"background-color: #f1b2dc;\">3<\/span><\/div>\n<p>Wrap each piece around a stick in a spiral shape, making sure the dough is secure.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bullet__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"bullet\"><span class=\"bullet__point bullet__point--dark\" style=\"background-color: #74d1ea;\">4<\/span><\/div>\n<p>Hold the \u2018damper\u2019 over the embers of the campfire, rotating the stick so the dough cooks evenly for about 10 minutes. The damper will become golden and bigger in size.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bullet__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"bullet\"><span class=\"bullet__point bullet__point--dark\" style=\"background-color: #9de7d7;\">5<\/span><\/div>\n<p>Adults will need to help to remove the hot bread from the stick before smothering it in salty butter, jam, syrup or whatever yummy things are on hand.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"bullet__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"bullet\"><span class=\"bullet__point bullet__point--dark\" style=\"background-color: #9e978e;\">6<\/span><\/div>\n<p>You can get really adventurous with your damper recipe by adding olives, herbs or whatever else you and your kids fancy.
