Your child is unique and will probably be a bit smelly at times! Be prepared.<\/strong>\r\n\r\n<strong>2.<\/strong> Breastfeeding is really, really difficult sometimes. You are not the first woman to struggle with it. Stick with it if you can, but not to the detriment of your health and emotional wellbeing.\r\n\r\n<strong>3.<\/strong> Life with a new born baby will make you tired in a way that can only be compared to permanent jet lag. Everyone says it, but \u2018sleep whenever you can\u2019 is the best advice ever.\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kidstart.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/timeline22.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-10133\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kidstart.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/timeline22.jpg\" alt=\"timeline22\" width=\"635\" height=\"442\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.kidstart.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/timeline22.jpg 635w, https:\/\/www.kidstart.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/timeline22-250x174.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.kidstart.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/timeline22-120x84.jpg 120w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 635px) 100vw, 635px\" \/><\/a>\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\n<strong>4.<\/strong> Modern parenting is highly competitive and it can be hard to drown out the voices, opinions and progress charts of everyone else, but it\u2019s a life-saver if you can.\r\n\r\n<strong>5.<\/strong> Unlike the world of work where you get feedback, reviews and bonuses, there is no HR department or employee reward scheme for mothers!\r\n\r\n<strong>6.\u00a0<\/strong>The first few months with a new baby can seem like an endless cycle of exhaustion, feeding and nappy changes. This, like every other phase of your child\u2019s life, will pass. Try to see the positive aspects of every phase&#8230; they all fly by so fast.\r\n\r\n<strong>7.\u00a0<\/strong>Sometimes, parenting is boring. It\u2019s ok to admit it!\r\n\r\n<strong>8.<\/strong>\u00a0There is no \u2018correct\u2019 way to do any of this stuff. Don\u2019t be too harsh on yourself if you find it all overwhelming and ask for help if you need it.\r\n\r\n<strong>9.\u00a0<\/strong>If you find that, even months after your baby is born, you feel low and depressed more often than you feel ok, seek help and talk to your GP, friends and family.\r\n\r\n<strong>10.\u00a0<\/strong>Your relationship with your partner will change. Acknowledging that things are different now that you two are three is important.
