Why not get into the holiday spirit and walk off some of those yummy mince pies with one of these fabulous Christmas family walks?<\/h4>\r\n1<strong>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kew.org\/kew-gardens\/whats-on\/christmas-at-kew\">Kew Gardens<\/a> <\/strong>near London is hosting an illuminated trail from 22nd November until 1st January. Follow the sparkling trail of over one million twinkling lights, illuminating heritage trees and buildings through the Gardens. Fairy-tale meets fantasy in a world of singing trees, larger-than-life flora, ribbons of light, giant baubles, and a flickering Fire Garden. Little ones can catch a glimpse of Santa and his elves at the North Pole village and enjoy a vintage fairground ride. Not so little ones can warm up with some mulled wine or hot chocolate and toast marshmallows around the fire.\r\n\r\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kidstart.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/kewgardens.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-14984 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kidstart.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/kewgardens.jpg\" alt=\"Christmas at Kew Gardens\" width=\"400\" height=\"335\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.kidstart.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/kewgardens.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.kidstart.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/kewgardens-250x210.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.kidstart.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/kewgardens-120x101.jpg 120w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a>\r\n\r\n2. <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/stockeldpark.co.uk\/\">Stockeld Park<\/a><\/strong> near Leeds, Wetherby and Harrogate has a Christmas Adventure event until January 8th. There&#8217;s an ice rink, enchanted forest, magical maze and Nordic ski.\u00a0After dark the whole park is magically lit by thousands of twinkling lights. The Nordic ski winds its way through ancient woodland and you can either walk or borrow a pair of Nordic skis to make your journey. They even do a breakfast with Santa which your children would love.\r\n\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kidstart.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/forest.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-9444 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kidstart.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/forest.png\" alt=\"forest\" width=\"400\" height=\"258\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.kidstart.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/forest.png 514w, https:\/\/www.kidstart.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/forest-250x161.png 250w, https:\/\/www.kidstart.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/forest-120x78.png 120w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a>\r\n\r\n3. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.forestry.gov.uk\/westonbirt-christmas\">The Forestry Commission<\/a><\/strong> are putting on an illuminated tree trail at Westonbirt near Gloucestershire. The walk is 45 minutes of spectacular lighting design and wintery magic.\u00a0After the trail\u00a0you can visit the Christmas Village, where you&#8217;ll have the chance to meet Father and Mother Christmas, listen to local choirs perform festive classics, have a ride on our traditional carousel or enjoy a warming meal in our restaurant or merry marquee.\r\n\r\n4. Why not help your kids get lost in<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.edinburghschristmas.com\/whats-on\/christmas-tree-maze3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Edinburgh\u2019s Christmas Tree Maze<\/a><\/strong>! A joy for children and adults alike \u2014 can you make your way to the centre and back again? Inside you&#8217;ll also discover the Elves&#8217; workshop, where Santa&#8217;s little helpers will be waiting for you with a wee treat. Tickets from \u00a33.50.\r\n\r\n5. If you are in Brighton on the 21st of December, check out <strong><a title=\"Burning the clocks\" href=\"http:\/\/www.samesky.co.uk\/events\/burning-the-clocks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Burning the Clocks<\/a><\/strong> when the locals make paper and willow lanterns to carry through the streets and burn on the beach. The lantern procession and spectacular bonfire at the end are really special.\u00a0Free spectator event.\r\n\r\n6. There is lots of Christmassy goodness happening at\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cardiffcastle.com\/whats-on\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cardiff Castle<\/a><\/strong> this year including\u00a0Santa&#8217;s grotto and Christmas wreath making which would be fun for adults and little ones alike.\r\n\r\n7.
