Do try this at home

Staycationing is all very well, but if it's raining you do need to come up with imaginative ways to entertain the kids unless you want World War 3 to break out. Or, as happened to my friend Sarah recently, suncream rubbed in your carpet and your tomato plants dug up from their pots.

Over the next few weeks I'll be sharing my top tips for keeping children of all ages entertained on a budget and to kick off, I wanted to show you these fantastic Shiny School videos from children's nutrition company Haliborange.

Hosted by CBeebies presenter Chris Corcoran, they include arts-and-craft sessions for ages 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12. They're very easy to follow and should keep your brood out of trouble for a few hours, at least. My favourite is the Andy Warhol session. Guaranteed to bring out the artist in you as well as your kids.
