Mum’s back to school uniform

As I was making sandwiches at 7am this morning (pre-packaged ham, sorry Jamie!) and trying to persuade our two moggies to use their cat flap rather than bawling at the front door (an uphill struggle), while trying to make breakfast and keep my eyes open, I happened to glance out of the kitchen window. The leaves on our pear tree are already turning red and ochre and are starting to fall, and the temperature has dropped.

Which means that autumn is well and truly on the way… and I have NOTHING to wear.

What I need are some reasonably smart-looking jackets/tops that don't cost the earth. That's why I'm loving the autumn/winter collection from George at ASDA  – I have my eye on this smart belted jersey jacket (£20) and checked gilet (£18). Throw one of them on over a top and pair of jeans and no one will guess the chaos you left behind in the kitchen to do the school run.

Why is it that clothes seem to get so misshapen over the summer? I always have problems finding clothes to fit after the summer. Jeans and trousers seem to be all saggy and baggy and long sleeved t-shirts look all old and worn out! I never seem in the mood for clothes shopping these days so I just end up making do.

Am v jealous of anyone who can get into a beautiful red coat like that – I do have one – from a different supermarket – and daren’t put it on! Supermarket clothes sections are about my limit – so oit’s good to see that they do have good stuff. I’m sure some people wouldn’t dream of looking there – but then they could always cut the labels out! Linda http://www.havealovelytime.com

That’s all very well but I want to turn up at school looking like a yummy mummy and without the chaos in the kitchen!!! x

I love the red coat so much I ordered it – just had my second baby and for just £20!!! I feel very swanky in my new coat (all be it worn with sick-marked maternity jeans! – still it’s only been 4 weeks, so I’m cutting myself some slack) Thanks Liz for posting the picture – I’m now inspired to shop for my post-maternity wardrobe (hubby may not be so pleased with you, though!)

  5. Schools and School uniforms are unforgettable part of life. I still have my school uniform pair but it doesn’t fit me now,Too short to wear.
