Say goodbye to winter blues and step into spring with Bonmarché

Hard as it is to believe, spring is not far away. In fact, as far as fashion designers are concerned it is already old news as they work on their collections for autumn and winter. London, Paris and New York held their Spring/Summer ’14 fashion months back in October of last year.

Fortunately, our high street stores are not focused so far ahead and are only just beginning to fill with pretty spring and summer fashions. If you want to whip your wardrobe into shape for this spring, the trick is to buy a few well-chosen key pieces which will team with some of your existing clothes. You can expect to find lots of soft feminine colours in store over the next few months, such as soft pastels, girly colours such as pinks and gentle blues. Floral prints and lace are making a comeback along with full, gloriously feminine maxi length dresses and skirts. Buying just a few key pieces will revitalise your wardrobe, bringing it right up to date. Here are a few suggestions from Bonmarché:

A floral top

Pretty flowery prints are very much in this spring. Long line, floaty tops in pastel shades are flatter the fuller figure when over a pair of dark jeans.

A crisp cotton shirt

Another great piece to add to your wardrobe this spring is a cotton shirt in pale blue or white. They always look effortlessly chic, look great with jeans and can look particularly good on those of us with a fuller bust.

A maxi length dress or skirt

Another very feminine addition to your wardrobe will be one of the many summery long length dresses and skirts we will be seeing in our fashion stores this spring. Choose yours in a floral design, pinks and blues will feature heavily but there will also be plenty in darker shades. Bonmarché is currently stocking a number of floaty tops and dresses in black and white floral prints which you may feel suit your complexion better than the lighter shades.

A midi length skirt

If you love to wear skirts and dresses but feel a little too old to wear one with a hemline way above the knee, this season’s fashions will please you. Both figure skimming pencil skirts and fuller midis will be everywhere, again in feminine pastel shades and floral prints.

A pair of wedge heels

Wedge heels are usually much more comfortable than thin stiletto heels and look good with both trousers and skirts, lengthening the leg and instantly making you look and feel more glamorous.

Dark blue jeans

It is often worth investing in a new pair of jeans at the beginning of each season. They go so well with all manner of items in your wardrobe. Choose the darker denim this spring to go with lighter pastel shade tops and T-shirts. Bonmarché has a new line in denim jeans which feature inbuilt control panels. They sit naturally at the waist and so are not only far more comfortable than hipster jeans which have dominated the fashion scene for a long while now but they also firm up your tummy and give you a better shape.
