Thank goodness the sun is shining at last. However, beware with spring being over five weeks late this year, the shops are already gearing up for summer sales (to make up for a bad quarter on the high street). In some ways this is great but if you’re not fast enough it means all summer stuff will be gone before the holidays even begin.
It’s one reason why this week as the kids go back at school I am on the hunt for a range of summer items. Top of my wish list is a paddling pool (I couldn’t even find one last week in two large supermarkets I visited), crocs and sandals for the kids, swimwear and the rest. One of my best tips is Debenhams, which is a veritable one-stop wonder for time starved mums. Not only does it have some great paddling pools for £12.80 that suit bigger kids and have the capacity for more water than usual but it has a large range of swimwear and beach gear. It also has Crocs at a great price. I’m a big fan of Crocs for kids because aside from being ideal summer shoes (antibacterial and help keep sweaty feet fresh) Debenhams have a wide range on offer including the cool retro Crocbands for £19.99.
That aside my other biggest tip is to stock up on the fun stuff that kids never seem to get enough of bubbles and bubble wands, garden toys and accessories and even sun chairs. It’s also a great time to buy those outdoor toys as all the big shops from the Early Learning Centre to B&Q have deals and great discounts going on.
So tell us what are your best buys for summer? What do you stock up on before it sells out?
