This Sleeping Baby is the Queen Of Dress-Up

Most tired parents usually sleep when their baby sleeps.

A recent parent and an avid photographer, Laura Izumikawa, uses the time when her child is asleep to indulge in her passion of creativity and photography.

Dressing-up

Laura photographs her four month old baby girl, Joey Marie Choi. Dressed in lavish clothes as she sleeps quietly. The costumes and dresses are mostly references to pop culture icons like Jon Snow, Pikachu and Beyoncé, as well as movies and TV shows like “Star Wars.”

Not sleeping

Laura does not feel like she needs to go to sleep when her child is sleeping. Because, she says “I would end up just staring at her face all day, and night. As I was just in love. Joey sleeps deeply, I thought it would be fun adding little props on her. Just to send fun pictures to our parents. It was a way to remember her growth and little milestones.”

Instagram fame

Laura kept posting more nap-time photos of Joey on Instagram, along with funny captions. Her follower count grew to over 30,000. The mum said she’s excited to know that many people are following her. Also she said that “Initially when I started getting loads of online attention, there was a bit of a motherly panic, and I thought about stopping.” However, then she started receiving messages from other parent who said that the photos and videos were the highlight of their day. For some it was also a thing they enjoyed to watch with their kids.

The baby

The baby did not let internet attention prevent her from getting that much-needed sleep. A few times she did woke up, while I’m dressing her up. But she’ll just look at me a little dazed, and then went straight back to sleep. She says “I really hope she’ll see the photos and videos in the future and have a good laugh. Hopefully she’ll see how loved she was.” Her hopes for photographs to inspire parents to keep their sense of humour. “I hope that these photos and videos will make people smile, and also remind parents to have fun with their kids. Not get too caught up in the seriousness of parenting.
