The Best Half Term Break

Half term cometh. Yes, despite school only just starting half term is just six weeks away, which if you’re planning a half term break isn’t very long at all. Maybe it was the Olympics or the fact we actually got a bit of sun in early August, but statistics show many families didn’t go away, which is why travel experts are predicting a sell-out October half term. With one of the biggest travel sites reporting a 23% increase in half term break searches compared to 2011. Top of the list for autumn sun is Tenerife followed by Lanzarote, Majorca, Gran Canaria and Red Sea resorts. However, you fancy staying closer to home like me, but are stuck for where to go why not consider a Butlins break. According to many parents I know the modern Butlins is a parents dream especially if you want your kids to have fun, be active and enjoy everything from the food, to swimming to their bedrooms! It’s not surprising as Butlins seem to cater for every age group. For kids aged 0 -4 years there are parent and toddler swim sessions, messy play, soft play and puppet shows. For kids aged 5 to 8 years there are live animal shows, swimming lessons, the waterpark and arts and crafts classes. For bigger kids aged 9+ there is fencing, huge climbing walls, street dance and footballs clubs not to mention all of the above and more. And for us parents there are spas, restaurants, night entertainment and a chance to relax as your kids work on getting exhausted. What’s more currently Butlins have a range of well priced half term breaks across their resorts with lots of spooky goings for kids for Halloween with pumpkin making, and trick or treat trails. There’s also the chance to stay at Butlin’s new Wave Hotel in Bognor Regis which has some pretty cool family apartments and family rooms available. All in all Butlins looks to be one of the best half term breaks you could opt for? Are you tempted? I am! What are your plans for half term? Are you staying home or planning a break?
